About Me
I am originally from Rhode Island, to which my parents moved from Uruguay shortly before I was born. There I attended the University of Rhode Island, where I earned a B.A. with a major in Spanish and received the Thelen scholarship for enthusiasm and achievement in Hispanic Studies. As a native speaker of English I translate only from Spanish into English, but as a first generation American, my Latin American roots provide me with unique insight into nuances in meaning that are often overlooked. At the age of 23 I moved back to Uruguay, where I have been honing my language skills for more than 20 years. I began applying these skills as a translator in 2005 and in 2009 I earned my Certificate in Spanish-to-English Translation from New York University. Since then the bulk of my experience has been in the field of Corporate Communications and Law Enforcement, but I also have a keen interest in Environmental Issues, Life Sciences and Mindfulness meditation.
